Accessibility

Neighborhood

Set in the heart of the Walpole Wilderness, the Resort area is still close enough to Walpole to buy supplies, while feeling completely isolated and remote. Wander through the forest and immerse yourself in nature, take a Walpole Wilderness cruise on the Inlet, or stroll high above the treetops with the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk. The children will love the new baby lambs and goats, and the alpaca can be patted if you catch him while he is being fed his morning muesli! The weather is perfect just now for sitting in front of the roaring fire, or soaking in the spa, with a mug or glass of something relaxing. 170 acres of wonderful forest embrace you as you walk or ride on the trails, and the frogs sing symphonies at night - but not too loudly to interfere with the quietest night's sleep you may ever have had! Come here to unwind, relax and find yourself. Rediscover your loved ones and family away from the constant noise of life. We welcome you. :)

Guest Access

Guests can access the whole of the beautiful block - aside from the Managers' Residence and surrounds, where all the work gets done. Guests are asked to stay clear of that area, because you are here to rest!

Good to know

The Walpole Wilderness Resort consists of four identical chalets set on 170 acres of glorious old growth forest. 🌳🌳🌳 With its towering forest giants, the Walpole Wilderness area is reminiscent of Queensland's Daintree, or Victoria's Sherbrooke forest. Walk trails meander throughout, where you can immerse yourself in nature. 🐦 πŸ¦˜πŸŒΌπŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦œπŸŒΈ πŸ¦†π“…¦ The beautiful chalets are spacious, and suit the discerning guest with their jarrah floors and beautiful outlooks. Everything you need is provided. In the evening, light up the BBQ on you private, wrap-around verandah, before heading off to luxuriate in the glorious spa in your master bedroom. 🫧 Before bed, recline in your lounge chair by the fire as you enjoy a glass of something special from a local winery. πŸ”₯🍷 We set the fire for you, and offer complementary firewood for the first night to keep you toasty-warm, with additional wood available at very reasonable rates. The stars at night are brighter than you may ever have seen them before, so bring along that camera or telescope! βπŸŒ™ The air down here is said to be the freshest in the world - so fresh it is breathtaking. πŸ˜‰ Try enjoying your morning coffee and croissants on the wrap-around balcony as you watch the kangaroos, baby sheep, wood ducks, goats, parrots and wrens. πŸŒ³πŸ¦πŸ‘πŸπŸ¦˜πŸŒΌπŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦™πŸ¦œπŸ¦† Frogs sing a symphony at bedtime in winter, and the kookaburras greet you at sunrise. Gracious Elrond (the tame emu) visits often with his four children, and the alpaca can be patted over his favourite muesli. π“…¦π“…¦π“…¦ The chalets are all identical inside, but situated differently, as follows: If you have children, the best view is from Chalets 1 and 2, which sit high on the hill. Both overlook the paddocks with the forest backdrop, and Chalets 3 and 4 below. Chalet 1 is also the Boobook owl chalet, as the Boobook owl siblings sometimes come to sit on the fence of the old emu pen beside it, and hunt for mice. πŸ¦‰πŸ¦‰πŸ The emus (Daddy Elrond and babies Arwyn, Legolas and Aragorn) also like to stand below your verandah and eat veggies or fruit you may leave there. π“…¦π“…¦π“…¦ You can see the flock of parrots who come to eat on the grass outside your balcony, 🦜🦜🦜 and the flock of 25 wild wood ducks often land there too. πŸ¦†πŸ¦†πŸ¦† Chalet 2 hosts the emus also, and is home to Dom Pedro the alpaca, who sleeps silently at night beneath the verandah. πŸ¦™ You often wake up in the morning to see him sitting down there like a big fluffy puppy dog, looking over the paddocks. You also have a very good view of the sheep and goats (we have 4 baby lambs right now!) πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘Chalet 2 is most frequented by the emus, and you get the best view of the kangaroos if they come at dusk and dawn. πŸ¦˜π“…¦ π“…¦ π“…¦ Chalet 3 is our "couples chalet" because it looks out at only the bush and the dam. It is the most quiet and private of the three chalets, and you can see the wood ducks landing on the water from the window of the master bedroom. πŸ¦† Not as interesting for children, but lots of peace.🌳🌳🌳 Chalet 4 is our disabled chalet, which will come onstream by summer holidays. It is our honour to share this corner of Paradise. You are most welcome!

Other Details to Note

We are the perfect place for a technology detox! There is limited mobile reception except for some patchy Telstra. There is minimal electromagnetic radiation (from phone towers or power lines) here to disturb your sleep, and we hope you sleep more soundly here than you may have in years. :) We do not have WiFi, so this is the perfect place to come and connect with yourself. ;) Please do not bring satellite dishes or Wifi boosters onto the block, out of respect for the visitors coming here to detox. :)

Lovely quiet retreat with well fitted out kitchen and drinkable rain water taps. Toiletries provided as well as firewood. Goats and alpaca on the property were a delight for the kids. Host was responsive and very friendly and welcoming. Signal in the area is patchy so be prepared so phone-free time, in front of a fireplace. Highly recommend the place

Amazing accomodation. A very luxurious rest day while riding the mundi biddi. The hosts were lovely and there was a whole range of farm animals to keep us entertained. Highly recommend.

The house is situated on a very peaceful farm. It's incredibly cozy and well-equipped. Although the evenings were a bit chilly, the fireplace kept us warm. The surrounding natural scenery is beautiful, and the animals are adorable, especially the enthusiastic herd of goats.

This place is balm for the soul! So peaceful, apart from the wildlife and free ranging farm animals who added interest and were a lot of fun. On a cold, rainy day in mid September it was a real treat to find a wood burner ready to light and electric blankets on the beds. so thoughtful. Thank you, Jim and Maria, for your friendly welcome!

Both hosts were lovely despite initial confusion over the booking. The rooms were lovely but showed some wear on benchtops. We had all we needed for a very peaceful stay.
